Research into Disease Helped by New Stem Cell
A new type of stem cell has been discovered by scientists from the UK.

Stem cells have been taken from rodents which closely resembled those found in humans. The discovery of these similar stem cells is expected to speed up research, as rodent stem cells are far easier to get hold of and much less controversial than human stem cells.

The stem cells, named "epiblast stem cells" are claimed to be the "missing link between mouse and human embryonic stem cells."

The research was carried out simultaneously by scientists at Oxford and Cambridge Universities which they claim has added credibility to both sets of research.
